Cartagena is well-known for its nightlife and for its lovely location right on the Caribbean Sea. Watching the sunset over the sparkling water is one of the most relaxing things to do in the city and a great way to end a fun-filled day or to start an action packed night!
So why not combine these two Cartagena activities into one and watch the sunset at one of the city’s many rooftop bars? Prices may be a little higher than other spots around the city but it is a small price to pay for the wonderful views! Below are some of our favorite spots to watch the day fade away and nighttime begin.
Alquímico
Located in a restored colonial mansion complete with a rooftop terrace, Alquimico is one of the hottest spots in town. Their cocktails are phenomenal. There are DJs playing a variety of styles of music so it is a great to stay after sunset!
Townhouse Rooftop
Featuring plunge pools and DJs, this bar promises a wild party. It is located on the top floor of the Townhouse Boutique Hotel and like Alquimico, it is a great place to hang around even after the sun sets!
Cafe del Mar
You can’t get a much better sunset view than the city walls and Cafe del Mar has a prime location on Baluarte de Santo Domingo, the westernmost part of Cartagena’s fortifications. There are amazing views out over the Caribbean and it is a great place to grab a cocktail and a snack while you watch the sun go done. Make sure to go early as Cafe del Mar is one of the most popular bars in Cartagena and seats fill up quickly.
