For those staying in the Old City a taxi should cost between 10,000 – 15,000 COP. For those staying in the Bocagrande, Castillo Grande or Manga a taxi should cost between 12,000 – 20,000 COP
Is Cartagena safe?
Cartagena is very safe and is considered the jewel of Colombia. Putting things in perspective, our beloved Netflix shows are based on stories from 30 years ago which certainly do not apply today. Most visitors spend most of their time in tourist centric areas such as the Old City, Getsemani, Manga, Bocagrande, Castillogrande, La Boquilla, Baru and the Rosario Islands. There is a huge police presence in and around these areas. After the unfortunate period of violence during the late 20th century, the safety conditions in Colombia have improved dramatically. Just like at home, always be mindful of where you are, who you are associating with and to secure your belongings.
